Guard denies hand in robbery, claims ID was lost in jeepney

The guard under employ of Mandarin Security Agency, whose identification card was allegedly found at the vicinity of La Nueva Supermart after last week’s robbery, went to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police to clear his name.

Jayson Dumoran, 22, a native of Cogon East, Carmen town went to the office of Sr. Insp. George Ylanan around 8:30 in the morning.  He went there after receiving an invitation letter from the police to shed light on the issue.

Two of Dumoran’s fellow guards from Mandarin Security Service Inc. were shot by robbers during the heist resulting to the death of Procoro Esguerra six days after the incident.

The other guard, Medard Rama, is still at the hospital recuperating from the gunshot wounds he sustained.

Dumoran told The Freeman that he lost his ID last Friday, four days after the robbery.  This contradicts the claim of the Catalino Entoma from Dalaguete, who allegedly found it.

Entoma maintained he found the ID last August 13, but it was not yet clear whether he found it before or after the robbery.

Dumoran explained that his co-security guards could attest his claims that during the robbery he was on duty at the Banco de Oro branch in Fuente Osmeña and did not leave his post until his was relieved by another guard.

He suspects that the ID could have fallen from the jeepney last Friday evening.

He said he took a jeepney with route number 03B coming from Mabolo, because it is the only jeepney that passes Fuente Osmeña where he works that would bring him to Hipodromo.

The said jeepney’s route passes La Nueva in its return trip.

He claimed that his suspicion that he lost his ID was confirmed when he saw it flashed on the local television news after it was reportedly found near he crime scene.

Ylanan in an interview with reporters said they are now doing counter checking on the people Dumoran named as his witnesses.

Meanwhile, the contradicting claims of both men would be determined with the help of a polygraph test.

Ylanan said he would want to have Dumoran go through the test to determine the veracity of his claims.

Dumoran for his part said he is not afraid of taking a lie detector test, because he knows he committed no crime.

Meanwhile, another motorcycle was recovered by the elements of the Waterfront police at around 1 p.m. last Tuesday along Logarta St.

This is the second motorcycle recovered in the area and the police believe this was also used by the robbers, who robbed the armored van of the Metrobank last week.

This is because the motorcycle recovered yesterday was also a XRM blue motorcycle with plate number IA 6340 whose registered owner is also from Sta. Ana, Manila.

The police are still verifying the ownership of the vehicles. — Edwin Ian Melecio and Flor Z. Perolina
