Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña and Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes agreed on Thursday night to work on solutions to the traffic congestions within the Banilad-Talamban cluster areas.
Osmeña assured Cortes that the Cebu City government is willing to spend for the asphalting of the road in barangay Canduman, Mandaue City leading to the Sacred Heart School.
Cortes also promised to provide funds for the improvement of the road within his jurisdiction to encourage some of the motorists to pass there in going to Cebu City, instead of taking the already congested Gov. Mariano Cuenco Avenue.
Roads that could be used by motorists as alternative routes from the Talamban area to Cebu City are the Canduman Road and Hernan Cortes Avenue that will connect to sitio Panagdait in Kasambagan or to M. J. Cuenco Avenue.
Osmeña together with Vice Mayor Michael Rama and the Cebu City councilors had a fellowship dinner with their counterparts in Mandaue City headed by Cortes recently.
Though Mandaue City Vice Mayor Carlo Pontico Fortuna and his allied councilors chose not to attend the affair, Osmeña described the gathering to be “very fruitful and successful.”
During the fellowship dinner, the two local leaders avoided discussing “sensitive issues because the objective of the gathering was for them to bond,” Osmeña said. — Rene U. Borromeo/MEEV
