Cops, K9 dogs detailed to help secure terminal

Twenty-two policemen and two K9 police dogs have been dispatched to augment the security of the South Bus Terminal during the observance of the Holy Week.

Police Provincial director Carmelo Valmoria yesterday went to the terminal to oversee the security operation there that would assure the safety of commuters who are heading home for the holidays.

A detailed policeman, reported to Valmoria, "Hapsay ra ang dagan sa tanan," while saying that they have been working to secure the area and the people there from threats of terrorism and other criminality.

Governor Gwen Garcia and Vice Governor Greg Sanchez, Jr., along with four Provincial Board members and two mayors visited the terminal to inspect the situation there.

"I am thankful to (Sr. Supt.) Valmoria for seeing to it that there is enough deployment of policemen," Garcia said. "I believe that our policemen are in full alert to ensure nga han-ay ang pagsakay (sa mga biyahero). And there is K9 assistance."

The governor however said there have been no orders to secure the churches where many people are expected to visit for the Holy Week. - Jona B. Bering, CNU intern/RAE
