Leyson bids farewell to council, will file COC for Talisay mayor

-
Cebu City councilor Gabriel Leyson yesterday officially bade goodbye to his fellow legislators as he would file today his certificate of candidacy for mayor of Talisay City.

After serving Cebu City for nine years, Leyson has decided to try his luck to run for the top political post in Talisay City against Mayor Socrates Fernandez who will seek reelection.

Banilad barangay captain Leah Japson was chosen by the officials of the Bando Osmeña Pundok-Kauswagan to take the slot vacated by Leyson in the north district.

Japson was among those, who filed their certificates of candidacy as councilor of Cebu City yesterday.

Leyson claimed that it is not easy for him to leave his colleagues in the city council, who he has worked with for three terms, but he was carried by his strong commitment to help Talisay City develop its economy and quality of living.

"Talisay City has always been the city of my dreams and passion. Hopefully, I would be able to do infrastructure projects, giving livelihood programs and promoting peace and order for the betterment of the city," Leyson said.

Leyson told the reporters that once he would be elected as mayor of Talisay City, he will try his best to create more infrastructure projects like foreign-funded projects that will not only benefit Talisay City residents, but also those from other areas. — Rene U. Borromeo/NLQ
