2 brothers hack each other dead

-
Two brothers hacked each other to death in the mountain barangay of Buguil, Moalboal town, about 13 kilometers away from the town proper last Sunday night.

One of them was killed on the spot while the other died as he was being taken to a hospital in Cebu City.

Police identified the fatalities as Leoncio Badonio, a resident of barangay Manga, Alcantara, while his older brother was Vicente Badonio, a resident of barangay Buguil, Moalboal. Both places are neighboring mountain barangays bordering their respective towns.

Based on the initial investigation conducted by SPO2 Jose Tacoloy around 7:30 that night, Leoncio, who was believed to be drunk, arrived to the house of Vicente and borrowed a bolo.

Shortly after Vicente handed the bolo to him he suddenly hacked Vicente in different parts of his body without provocation. Vicente was later able to grab the bolo and also hacked Leoncio and did not stop until he was dead.

Seriously wounded, Vicente was immediately brought by his son and wife to the Badian District Hospital, they later tried to take him to Cebu City but had to go back to Buguil because Vicente was already dead when they reached Carcar town.

The bolo used in the killing was turned over by Vicente's wife to the police.

Tacoloy said that further investigation revealed that prior to the incident the brothers had a dispute over the land they were going to inherit from their parents.

Both brothers were buried yesterday with the assistance of Buguil barangay captain Dioscoro Infante. - Norvie S. Misa/BRP
