Two persons are now in critical condition after the motorcycle they were riding on collided with a passenger multicab along the national highway of sitio Bahak, barangay Poblacion, Liloan town, yesterday morning.
Romeo Vistar Jr., of barangay Nangka, Consolacion town, and his companion who was not identified are both in critical condition after sustaining injuries in different parts of their bodies.
Traffic field investigator PO3 Ramir Maglasang yesterday said that the initial investigation conducted by PO2 Rutchel Jugalbot revealed that the Kawasaki motorcycle with plate number YM-5976 driven by Vistar was travelling north, from Consolacion to Liloan, tailed by another Kawasaki motorcycle bearing plate number YV-9902 driven by the unidentified person.
A passenger multicab with plate number GWW-431 driven by a certain Jim Ranin Rallos, of Consolacion, was heading in the opposite direction, from the town proper heading for Consolacion, reportedly with a female passenger and her baby.
Maglasang said that upon reaching the place, Vistar, who was reportedly speeding, lost control of the motorcycle and hit the multicab head-on.
The other motorcycle tailing Vistar also hit the latter, further adding to his injury.
Maglasang said that both motorcycle drivers were under the influence of liquor during the time of the incident.
He said that the town ambulance rushed the victims to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. The others in the multicab, including the baby, suffered only minor injuries and are now out of danger.
Maglasang also said that a follow-up investigation was conducted yesterday to identify the other victims. However, he said that there was no filing of appropriate charges yet against Vistar as there were no formal complaints yet filed by the other victims. - Norvie S. Misa
