Two caught with guns, shabu in Mambaling

Two men were arrested for illegally possessing handguns and packs of suspected illegal drugs in sitio Pungtod, barangay Mambaling yesterday morning.
Operatives from the Mambaling Police Station identified the suspects as James Barrera Romarate, 37, and Jonmarc Rama Petiro, 28, all residents of the area. Police arrested the two following a call from a concerned citizen.
Mambaling Police Station chief Senior Inspector Andres Bayarcal and his men recovered two homemade .38 caliber revolvers, five live ammunitions, two plastic packs of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia from the suspects
Violation of Republic Act 8294, or illegal possession of firearms in relation to the Commission on Elections gun ban, will be filed against the suspects today.
The Comelec has implemented the gun ban from January 14 to June 14 in connection with the elections in May. All gun licenses during this period will be temporarily terminated except for those granted with exemption by the commission. - Edwin Ian Melecio/LPM
