Two men landed in the hospital after they were stabbed by a group of unidentified men who chased them after they left a benefit dance in barangay Langtad, Argao town, last Saturday dawn.
A Langtad barangay councilman went to the police station and reported that while they were securing a benefit dance at the said place, a commotion erupted in front of the chapel beside the basketball court.
Policemen responded to the alarm and were able to rescue the victims identified as Josue Geralde, 23, and a 17-year-old minor, both residents of the place.
Geralde sustained stab wounds in the right side of his body while the minor was hurt in his right leg. The two were brought to the Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital but Geralde was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City for further medical attention.
Carcar policeman PO2 Jojit Abah yesterday told the Freeman that based on the initial investigation they conducted, the minor earlier had a heated argument with a certain Jason Datuin on the dance floor.
They were later pacified and the minor was advised by his cousin, Magdaleno Cahigas, to go home, but when they were outside the basketball court together with Geralde, a group of unidentified men chased them, beat them up and stabbed the victims.
Abah said that Cahigas went down after being punched in the face, he then saw the minor already sitting on a concrete bench at the said place asking for help after he was wounded.
The police however said that victims were not a member of any fraternity but were only friends. The victims also told policemen that it was not Datuin who stabbed them.
"Matud sa mga biktima nga lain nga tawo ang nagdunggab nila, murag suya-suya lang ba mga batan-on gud," Abah said.
Abah said that all persons involved in the incident were drunk when it happened.
Meanwhile, an alleged notorious member of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity was arrested in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, by the operatives of the Provincial Intelligence and Investigation Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office last week.
James Ferrer, 22, of barangay Poblacion, Carmen town, was arrested by the PIIB operatives led by P/Supt. Juanito Enguerra last December 27, he was later turned over to the Danao City police.
Danao City policeman SPO1 Luis Perales revealed that Ferrer is in their list of most wanted criminals and is accused of two killings in their place.
"Hitman gyud ni siya," Perales claimed.
Ferrer has two murder cases and a frustrated murder case at the sala of judge Sylvia Paderanga of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 25 in Danao City.
Perales also said that aside from Danao City, Ferrer has also cases of murder and frustrated murder in Carmen town.
They also received unconfirmed reports that Ferrer was seen before in the company of an alleged bigtime drug pusher in Cebu. - Norvie S. Misa
