Power outages this weekend

Power outages will hit several parts of Metro Cebu this Saturday and Sunday due to upgrading and maintenance activities of the Visayan Electric Company.

From 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Saturday, reconstruction and tapping of newly relocated transformers will result in brownouts over parts of Colon, Jakosalem, MC Briones, Legaspi, Pelaez, Lincoln, Magallanes, F. Gonzales, Plaridel Extension, Osmena Boulevard, and Carbon Market.

The five-hour power interruption would affect commercial establishments, radio stations, banks, schools, restaurants, and hotels in these areas.

Then from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, the National Transmission Corporation will have maintenance works on its 67.7-mVA Power Transformer No. 2 that serves Veco's Cabancalan area.

This will result in a nine-hour brownout over barangays Adlawon, Agsungot, Apas, Bacayan, Banilad, Binaliw, Budlaan, Guba, Lahug, Busay, Cambinocot, Lusaran, Mabini, Paril Pit-os, Pulang-bato, San Jose, Sirao, and Talamban-all in Cebu City.
