Carreta wants boundary dispute w/ Tejero settled

-
Carreta barangay officials are now asking the Cebu City Council to speed up the solution of their boundary conflict with barangay Tejero, involving three sitios that belong to Tejero but are near the Carreta barangay hall.

The officials of Carreta under barangay captain Marciano Ando said it is easy for the residents of sitios Laray, Caimito and Ponce Compound to avail of benefits from barangay Carreta rather than from Tejero because their locations are just across the Carreta barangay hall.

Ando said they also wish that the City Council declare Sampaguita Road the boundary between Carreta and Tejero.

Because of the boundary dispute, there is confusion on the part of the residents as to where to avail of needed basic services.

"Due to the failure of the Cebu City Council to immediately resolve the boundary dispute between the two barangays, the residents of the disputed sitios have suffered gross neglect of the basic services intended for them," the Carreta barangay officials said.

In their resolution sent to the city council, the Carreta barangay officials said there is no record showing that barangay Tejero offered services to the residents of sitios Ponce Compound, Laray and Caimito.

But in order to give service to the residents of the three sitios, Ando and Tejero barangay captain Lito Fajardo have agreed that pending the resolution of the conflict, barangay Carreta will answer to the medical needs of the residents. - Rene U. Borromeo
