Two Akrho men tagged as suspects in Argao shooting

-
Two alleged members of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity were tagged as suspects in a shooting incident in a KTV bar in barangay Poblacion, Argao past midnight yesterday.

A spot report submitted by the Argao Police Station to the provincial police office said that jealousy over a woman caused the shooting incident, which wounded two men.

The suspects were identified as Edward Abear, single of barangay Canbanua, and Ruben Manzano Camaura, single of sitio Suba, barangay Poblacion, all in Argao town. The police said they got information that both are reportedly members of the Akrho fraternity.

The victims were identified as Roberto Elacion Puerto, 42, and Gualberto Manila, 48, both married of Upper Candabong, Hampang, Argao. Both sustained gunshot wounds in their back. Puerto was brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City while Manila was brought to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao.

SPO4 Wilfredo Tauto-an, deputy chief of police in Argao, said that prior to the incident, the suspects' companion, Harold Carillo Kintanar, 21, single, had a woman with him inside the bar and was drinking with the suspects.

Tauto-an said that the suspects got mad at the victims, who were in another table, because they allegedly kept on looking at Kintanar's companion.

Manzano and Abear went out of the KTV bar and challenged the victims to a fistfight but the victims reportedly ignored them.

Abear and Manzano then went back inside and shot the victims.

PO2 Elizer Canada and PO2 Renato Nacaytona responded to the alarm but the suspects fled right away after the incident.

The police are still conducting hot pursuit operations. - Gregg M. Rubio/QSB
