Gayotin: Ballistic exam to determine moneylender's killer

The director of the Cebu City Police Office yesterday said they have now subjected for a ballistic examination the slugs recovered from the area where a moneylender and her secretary were shot dead along T. Padilla Extension in barangay Tejero last September 9.

P/Supt. Melvin Gayotin said the examination was aimed at determining the possible identity of the killer of Pilar Hernandez, 62, and her secretary, Wevina Pancho, 52.

Earlier, the city police have expanded their hunt outside Cebu against the man whom they believed to be a policeman behind the robbery-slay.

Hernandez, owner of the PRH Lending Investment Inc., turned 62 years old the day she was killed together with Pancho.

Investigators believed that the robber was a policeman based on witnesses' accounts and the empty shells of .9mm caliber recovered from the crime scene.

Though some policemen were issued with other firearms, they commonly used the .9mm caliber for its safety features.

It has been known that Hernandez, who was laid to rest last Saturday with her family still crying for justice, mostly caters to policemen in the region. - Norvie S. Misa/LPM
