Teacher arrested in drug raid

A teacher working in a prominent private school was arrested along with two other suspected drug pushers in sitio Plastikan, barangay Duljo-Fatima, in a series of raids yesterday dawn.
Cecil Abayan, 34, was arrested by virtue of the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court judge Geraldine Faith Econg for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
She was arrested after nine medium plastic packs of suspected shabu were seized from her house by raiding policemen from the Vice Control Section of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch.
Although the search warrant included her husband Jovito Abayan, the latter was not around as Cecil said he no longer sleeps there after hearing reports that the police were after him for being a masiao coordinator.
Police also arrested her neighbor Imelda Dayanan after policemen found seven medium packs of suspected in her house, Dayanan was the subject of a warrant search issued by RTC judge Meinrado Paredes.
The house of another neighbor, Chielo Peligrino, was also raided by the police but she was not around. Only her father, Wilfredo, was there and was found with two small sachets containing suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia after policemen frisked him.
A further search of Peligrino's house yielded four medium packs of shabu.
Abayan, who is scheduled to take the Teachers Board Examination this Saturday, denied involvement in her husband's drug activities, claiming that she only knew that he is a masiao coordinator ever since they got married.
