Mordeno surprised by media report on examination result

Department of Education regional director Carolino Mordeno yesterday said he was surprised about why reporters managed to secure the result of the National Achievement Test held in March.
The test result showed that Cebu province ranked first among the elementary schools under the 15 school divisions in Central Visayas. Cebu City ranked fourth from 12th place last year, but in the secondary level, it only ranked 11th from being in the top ten.
Mordeno yesterday said that the NAT result obtained by the media was not yet official, which was the reason why he did not order its release to the public. He explained that a Manila DepEd official who was in charge of the test informed him that they have yet to release the result.
He added that he might get the official result by the end of the month.
Mordeno admitted that he still could not speak about the standing of Central Visayas against other regions pending the result of the test.
Those who took the test were Grade 6 pupils for the elementary level and first and fourth year students for the secondary level. But the initial report only showed the result of the test conducted on Grade 6 and first year high school students.
