Mandaue City is waiting for the Development Bank of the Philippines to put together the particulars of a P410 million loan, a loan that would be used to start Phase II of the unfinished new public market located at the back of the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
In January last year, the city entered into a memorandum of agreement with Rosal Infrastructure Builders for the construction of Phase 1 of the public market for P93.8 million. It was finished last year.
This phase of the project covers the drive piling and the assembly of columns and beams. On the other hand, Phase II covers the construction of the city market structure and other facilities and amenities.
All stores would be on the ground floor while the parking area will be on the second level.
Three years ago, the old public market caught fire that spread to the St. Joseph Academy and the National Shrine of St. Joseph. Since then, market stalls have been lining up along B. Ceniza and Zamora Sts.
