Brgy. Intel Network complete training, set for deployment

-
At least 70 members of the Barangay Intelligence Network recently completed a three-day training seminar on bomb detection and are set for deployment to different assignments in the city and the upcoming ASEAN Summit this December, a police official said. The Cebu City Police Office conducted the training seminar, which was graced and closed by Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch head, Supt. Pablo Labra, III.

Labra told The FREEMAN that the new graduates would be deployed to their assigned posts to help policemen in maintaining peace and order in the city.

Aside from bomb detection, the BIN members had undergone training on basic investigation, arresting techniques and ethical standards, and on special laws.

Emphasis was said to be on ethical standards so the BIN members would be able to avoid committing mistakes and or abuse while performing their duties.

Chief Inspector Arnel Banzon, former chief of the elite Special Weapons and Tactics and now the Mobile Patrol Group head of the CCPO, served as bomb detection lesson proctor.

The group will be among the manpower added to the regular police force set to secure the upcoming ASEAN Summit, specifically in places inside Cebu city where leaders of these ASEAN countries will be meeting.

Police Regional Office-7 director, Chief Supt. Silverio Alarcio, announced earlier that additional policemen will be arriving from different regions, together with logistical support, next month. - Edwin Ian Melecio of Banat News
