Construction firm offers to put up Mandaue park

Felipe Cruz, president of the construction firm F.F. Cruz and Company is offering to bankroll the construction of a commemorative and heritage park intended for Mandaue City's distinguished leaders. Mayor Thadeo Ouano, on the other hand, has been authorized by the city council to accept the offer and to sign the memorandum of agreement.

The construction of the park is estimated to reach P1 million. It would be built on a government-owned 900-square-meter lot located at Ouano Avenue corner Mantawi International Drive, South Reclamation Area. The park would be known as "Plaza Ouano."

Under the MOA, the firm would build the park and at the same time put up a bust of former Mandaue City Mayor Alfredo Ouano at no cost to the city.

It is also stated in the MOA that the city shall devote and segregate the property exclusively as a commemorative and heritage park for the city's distinguished leaders for the enjoyment and benefit of the Mandauehanons.

It is also specified that the city government shall not transfer the monumental bust of the former mayor to any other place and that all plans and specifications for the development of Plaza Ouano shall be submitted to the city mayor for approval. - MITCHELLE P. CALIPAYAN
