Maambong wants tanods in schools to protect kids

Barangay captains in the province should detail some of their tanods and personnel near public schools to safeguard students from road accidents while walking to and from their schools.
Provincial Board member Victor Maambong made this proposal in a resolution, citing a recent study of Safe Kids Philippines, a non-government organization, which said that many among 3,000 schoolchildren, as young as six years old, got hurt in accidents involving bicycles, motorcycles and tricycles.
Maambong said that, given the hard reality that some of the streets are unsafe for children and students, the barangay authorities could assign tanods in areas near schools to guide them and ensure their safety on their way to and from schools. - Flor Z. Perolina
