Man, 63, killed in Boljoon fire

A 63-year-old man was killed when a fire razed his house in sitio Cansumap-ang, barangay Lunok in Boljoon town Wednesday morning.

Investigation conducted by the Boljoon fire personnel revealed that the victim, Rogelio Nibla, who was weak and sickly, was cooking in the kitchen alone when the flames accidentally scattered to the walls and roof.

The house, which was made of light materials, was immediately reduced to ashes and Nibla's charred body was found on the ground later. The damage was pegged at P25,000.

Amid the series of fire incidents in different municipalities this week, Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. threatened to take back the firecycles that Capitol has distributed to various local government units in the province.

Sanchez was irked after learning that some towns have dismantled the firecycles, which were supposedly used only for fighting fire.
