Police nab man for "rape try" on daughter

A 44-year-old man who allegedly evaded the law after being accused of trying to rape his daughter in 2004 was arrested early morning yesterday when he returned to barangay Cabatbatan, San Fernando town.
Clarido Magdalino's wife filed charges for acts of lasciviousness against him for allegedly trying to rape their daughter sometime in 2004 when she was still 16 years old. The said case was filed at the sala of Regional Trial Court judge Olegario Sarmiento Jr., of branch 24.
Police said that Magdalino denied the accusations and said that he never went into hiding. Magdalino alleged that he and his wife were arguing about a debt and that his wife filed a case in court against him for that debt when he left to work at a construction site in Dumaguete City. The suspect is now detained in the San Fernando police station and will be brought to court within the week. - Norvie S. Misa
