Woman killed in pyro blast in Lapu-Lapu

A 42-year-old woman was killed when an explosion rocked a firecracker factory in Purok Judas Belt, barangay Babag II, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Marina Cantalao, a firecracker factory worker, who died on the spot from multiple injuries and burns.
Initial investigation conducted by SPO2 Rolito Jumao-as of the Lapu-Lapu Police Station revealed that Cantalao, a widow, was packing firecrackers at a makeshift factory owned by a certain Edeliza Aguilar when the explosion happened.
Police records, which showed no signs of foul play, said Cantalao placed some chemicals in the aluminum receptacle while packing firecrackers.
But moments later, the chemicals placed in the aluminum receptacle had sparked and exploded. - Norvie S. Misa
