Talisay dad wants 'dishonest' teller suspended
April 5, 2006 | 12:00am
Talisay City Councilor Allan Bucao wants the teller of the treasurer's office accused of dishonesty to be put under preventive suspension while an investigation is being conducted.
Mayor Socrates Fernandez has called for an investigation into the allegations against the City Hall employee after Bucao exposed the matter during a council session. Bucao accused the teller of having pocketed government funds for reportedly tampering the receipts he received.
Bucao said under the Human Resources Management rules, any employee who is charged of dishonesty should be put under preventive suspension "so as not to jeopardize the investigation.' Bucao was once an HRM officer of the then municipality of Talisay.
The teller is still working at the Talisay City Treasurer's Office despite the investigation but was just transferred to another section where there are no transactions involving money.
"I hope the HR will finally work on it," Bucao said in an interview.
Meanwhile, Bucao will be giving a commendation to Dominga Geraldez today for reporting the misdeeds of the city hall employee. Geraldez, also government employee, first came to him to report the alleged receipt tampering. - Liv G. Campo
