Anbert Delator, 56, married, Richard Maxilom, 20, single, and Eduardo Sumilhig, 36, married, all residents of barangay 6, Tuburan town were arrested by Tabuelan policemen SPO1 Ramon Montecalvo, PO3 Wilson Abot and Bantay Dagat personnel.
Initial investigation revealed that the policemen and the Bantay Dagat personnel were patrolling the seawaters of the town when they spotted a fishing boat within the municipal sanctuary along barangay Poblacion. There is an existing ordinance in Tabuelan town prohibiting outsiders from fishing in the town's seawaters without the proper permits.
The three fishermen were then brought to the Tabuelan police station and their fishing boat, equipment and their catch were confiscated. PO3 Abot, however, said the three men were released after paying the P500 fine each. All the seized items were also returned to the fishermen. - Norvie S. Misa
