Four multicab-riding robbers were arrested during a police hot pursuit operation Wednesday night at the North Reclamation Area.
Julius Loquinte and Michael Jaducaña of Alaska-Mambaling, and Lemuel Abellana of Figueroa Street, barangay Sawang Calero and a minor were arrested by elements of the Mobile Patrol Group after they robbed Glen Morales along Natalio Bacalso Avenue.
Morales told police that while he was on his way home, three of the suspects suddenly appeared from behind and the minor immediately poked a gun at him. Morales narrated that the boy immediately grabbed his Nokia 3315 while Abellana divested him of his wallet containing P2,500, a U.S. dollar, some documents and a Metrobank ATM card. Loquinte served as their lookout.
The suspects then ran towards a waiting green multicab and sped towards barangay Mambaling.
But 30 minutes later, a hot pursuit operation by authorities led to the arrest of the suspects who were cornered at the North Reclamation Area.
Police were able to recover the .38 caliber revolver from the minor, P600 cash from Loquinte while the victim's wallet was found in the possession of Jaducaña, the multicab driver.
The lawmen were only able to recover Morales' cell phone after the suspects admitted that they immediately sold it to a certain Mario Econg in barangay Duljo.
Elated over the arrest of the suspect, SPO2 Venancio Abela of the Theft and Robbery Section said that at least 13 persons have come forward to complain about multicab-riding robbers. - Flor Z. Perolina
