Slain doctor's family giving P50,000 reward for gunman's identity

-
The family of Dr. Jane Lim-Chua, who was shot dead by still unidentified foreigner last Thursday inside her clinic, is willing to give P50,000 reward to anybody who could give any information regarding the identity of the assailant.

Lawyer Fritz Quiñanola, the counsel of the victim's family, informed The Freeman yesterday afternoon that Chua's kin would give the reward to anybody who could determine the identity of her assailant so as to determine the motive of the killing.

Quiñanola said that they are trying to identify the assailant by visiting places like bars that are frequented by foreigners to gather information on his identity.

He said that anybody who knows the identity of gunman could reach him through 254-0775 and 346-1023, or call Insp. Mario Monilar of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office through 231-6383.

Chua was shot dead inside her clinic at the second floor of an uptown building along Osmeña Boulevard. The assailant, a male Caucasian in his 40s about six feet tall, later turned the gun on himself.

Police recovered from the crime scene a .38 cal. pistol, six empty shells and two slugs. Three full magazines and a 10-inch jungle knife hidden in the left leg of the gunman were also found.

The assailant carried a black belt bag that contained a grocery receipt, eyeglasses, a syringe, receipt for a cough medicine, a torn map of Cebu and a key. - Norvie S. Misa
