DPWH gives Mandaue high rating on implementation of infra projects

-
The Department of Public Works and Highways has given the Mandaue City government a rating of "very satisfactory" in terms of its capability to implement infrastructure projects. DPWH regional director Juanito Abergas, in an evaluation dated December 23, gave the city such rating after reports showed and proved that the city has the capacity to maintain its local roads to a very satisfactory level.

Councilor Alan Borbajo, chairman of the committee on infrastructure at the city council, said that the DPWH-funded projects in the city have greatly helped constituents in terms of convenient road passage. Among the roads in the city funded by DPWH include AC Cortes avenue, UN avenue, ML Quezon street, AS Fortuna street, MC Briones street, Plaridel street, H. Abellana street, Logarta street and Ouano avenue. Borbajo added that these roads are not only being funded by DPWH but are also being maintained by the said government agency.

Meanwhile, the city council in its regular session yesterday approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Thadeo Ouano to sign a memorandum of agreement between the city and the DPWH for the implementation of the completion of asphalt overlay projects at P. Remedios street in barangay Banilad worth P500,000. Abergas said that based on their evaluation, the city is capable of implementing the said project considering that it has already implemented infrastructure projects last year worth P50 million. - Mitchelle P.
