OFW one-stop-center open until January 14
January 1, 2006 | 12:00am
The One-Stop-Center for Overseas Filipino Workers at the SM City Cebu will still serve OFWs on vacation here
for the Christmas season until January 14.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration set up the center, located at the second level of the mall, so that OFWs can easily process their documents even while on vacation.
OFWs who have been served by the center said that the place is clean, orderly and quick in processing their needs.
They are hoping that government will do the same in the years to come and perhaps put more centers in other malls.
The POEA is asking OFWs especially those who are not from Cebu who will transact business at the center or who will get Overseas Employment Certificates to bring with them the pertinent papers like passport, visa and working permit for faster processing of their needs.
Those who will pay their OWWA membership fee and Philhealth premiums should also bring their contract and original receipt of the last payment.
The center, however, cannot serve those in the seafarers sector since these types of OFWs have a different registration process. - Gregg M. Rubio
