Butcher hacks plumber dead

-
A 31-year-old plumber and all-around helper was stabbed to death at an alley while he was on his way home in sitio Agay-ay, barangay Tejero, Cebu City.

The body of Reynaldo Querobin, a resident of the place, bore at least 20 stab wounds after he was allegedly attacked by brothers Julius delos Reyes alias "Perot", 29, a butcher, and Dindo Delos Reyes, 30, both also resident of the said place.

Investigation conducted led by SPO1 Jay Yballe revealed that the victim was heading towards his home passing by an alley when said assailants waylaid him then stabbed him repeatedly with a 12-inch kitchen knife.

The victim suffered 16 stab wounds in his back, twice in his neck, once in his chest and once in the abdomen that spilled his insides, killing him instantly.

Prior to the incident, the victim and the older Delos Reyes had a one-on-one drinking session earlier. At the height of their drinking spree an argument erupted between them and later turned into a fistfight.

After the incident Dindo went home then told his younger brother Julius that he had been mauled by Querobin. Both waited for the victim to come home then waylaid him and stabbed him.

Further investigation revealed that younger suspect, Julius, also had an axe to grind against Querobin as he suspected the victim of having an affair with his live-in partner.

Both assailants then fled after the incident but Julius was later arrested by SPO1 Benecir Tamboboy of the Mobile Patrol Group, at 13th Avenue, North Reclamation Area.

Police also recovered the knife allegedly used in the killing. Dindo is still being sought. - Norvie S. Misa, correspondent
