Gullas Medical School adds 4-story building

A new four-story building was added to the Gullas Medical School, in barangay Banilad, an off-site campus of the University of the Visayas at Colon Street in downtown Cebu City.

The P90-million building, designed by architect Manuel Guanzon, boasts of a 100-bed hospital, 16 furnished classrooms, four laboratories, a library, computer room, and a roof deck.

The building was constructed to meet the growing number of students enrolled at the Gullas Medical School, reputed as one of the leading medical schools in the country.

UV executive vice president Jose R. Gullas said there has been a surge of enrollment in medical and para-medical courses, specifically in nursing where there has been a steady increase of students for the last five years.

The Gullas Medical School, which also operates the Gullas Medical Center, would hold the grand opening and blessing of the new building this January.

Last November 9, a soft opening was held attended by Msgr. Cris Garcia, Rev. Frs. Arthur Navales, Dongdong Taladua and Gerali, and assistant dean Emma Amores of the College of Nursing, among others. - Jasmin R. Uy
