2 charged with rape, homicide

A criminal complaint for rape with homicide was filed against two men last Tuesday after a witness to the crime they committed surfaced.

Anselmo Bacalla, 23, and Noli Encho, 24, both residents of Langtad, Naga, and another suspect Glen Escabas, were accused of raping and killing Glorence Glysa Tapia of Lacaron, San Fernando town last October.

The victim, reportedly a lesbian, accompanied her girlfriend in going home to sitio Lawis after attending a benefit dance in sitio Mohon. However, upon reaching a dark area, the suspects attacked Tapia, raped her and killed her.

Escabas was no longer included in the charge since he committed suicide by hanging himself the day after they allegedly committed the crime. He left a suicide note asking for forgiveness for the things he had done. - Norvie S. Misa
