The Philippine Postal Service (Philpost) celebrates its 107th anniversary tomorrow, November 10, with the theme: Tulay sa Pagkakaunawa, Pagkakaisa at Kaunlaran.
In a press conference held at the Philpost conference hall, director of operations division Ralph Gesta and district manager Rey Manungas discussed the problems they encounter particularly during the peak season.
Peak season usually starts from the last quarter of the year, or from October until February. They advised all senders that they should send their mails earlier to avoid the delay of their mails.
Because during these days more mails will arrive at their office and they lack of manpower because of the Executive Order 366, which is the freezing of hiring of employee due to cost-cutting measures.
They also added that all mail senders should not put valuable items inside the letters as they might get lost. This is the usual complaint of the people.
If it cannot be avoided, the mailable items should be declared in the packing list to the customs particularly that there are valuable items inside for tracing purposes.
In addition, house numbering is the biggest problem of the postman if the senders do not locate the exact address and that's the reason why the letter will return to sender. - Norvie S. Misa, Correspondent
