After almost two months, the court has finally issued a warrant for the arrest of PO1 Karl Lou Tejano accused of stabbing to death his own wife, a policewoman, in the latter's rented apartment in Cebu City last September 11.
Regional Trial Court Branch 7 judge Simeon Dumdum Jr., who now handles the parricide case against Tejano, issued the warrant of arrest last November 2 on reports that Tejano was already located at the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office 9 in Pagadian City where he is assigned.
Tejano is facing a parricide case after he was accused of stabbing to death his wife PO2 Luchelle Luchavez Tejano last September 11 in her rented apartment in barangay Sambag I, Cebu City.
The 25-year-old Luchelle, detailed at the Family Juvenile Gender Sensitivity Section of the Police Regional Office 7, sustained 21 stab wounds in different parts of her body.
In a sworn statement, Mary Jane Pano, Luchelle's helper, said that on September 9, Tejano arrived at their rented apartment to take his family back to Pagadian City. Luchelle, her 20-month-old daughter, and Pano arrived in Cebu City on August 5.
Two days after, Tejano came again reportedly to forcibly take his family back, but Luchelle refused to go with him, Pano said.
Then a commotion ensued prompting Pano to call for police assistance from the regional police office. However, when she came back together with some policemen to the apartment, they found Luchelle already dead lying on a pool of blood.
Tejano was no longer in the apartment. A certain Carla May Mendrano, who lived in the same apartment with Luchelle, said the couple had an argument before she was found dead.
She added she saw Luchelle storming out of the room, carrying her child while Tejano was running after the two brandishing a knife.
The information of the case was filed before the trial court on October 20. No bail was recommended for Tejano's temporary release once authorities get their hands on him.
