Troublemaker wounded by own neighbor

A man shot and wounded his neighbor in sitio Rama, barangay Dumlog, Talisay City, last Saturday night, police investigation revealed the incident was borne out of an old grudge between the victim and suspect.

Joe Cauba, 36, of barangay Dumlog, a former inmate of the Talisay City Jail and Rehabilitation Center, sustained a gunshot wound to the left shoulder after being shot by the suspect identified as Edgar Maneja.

SPO1 Edgar Causon said Cauba had just been released from the city jail for illegal possession of firearms and attempted homicide. Causon also said that the victim was noted for being unruly towards his neighbors.

"Daghan naman silingan hadlok ani niya kay mosaka og balay unya kusog manghingi. Kusog sab ni siyang manghasi sa mga silingan, (Many neighbors are afraid of him because he keeps on entering houses and asking for things. He also gets into a fit a lot) " Causon said, adding that maybe the suspect was already fed up with the attitude of the victim.

Cauba is now recuperating at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center while Maneja escaped after the incident. - Garry B. Lao
