DTI asked to probe text promos

-
Representative Simeon Kintanar, who heads the Congressional Committee on Information and Communication wants the Department of Trade Industry to look into unlimited text and call promotions of cellular phone networks.

Kintanar said although a bill is pending in Congress stipulating the protection of subscribers, he will still call on DTI to address this concern after various complaints on unlimited text promotions from both Smart and Globe communications.

Globe, who boasted of unlimited text for P15 for a day, P25 for two days and P50 for five days, has been the subject of complaints of several subscribers who alleged that their free text privilege expires prior to the applied period, like three days instead of five.

For Smart subscribers who were assured of double free text to Smart to Smart messages, there are complaints that double text do not apply to electronic loads of bigger denomination and card loads.

Kinatanar said such discounting promotions are not letting the subscribers save after all.

The provincial board is also coming up with a resolution to similar effect. - Ferliza C. Contratista
