Revision of Talisay's nose blowing ordinance sought

The Provincial Board has urged the Talisay City council to revise an ordinance that prohibits nose blowing in public places.

PB member Agnes Magpale finds the ordinance insensible.

"Do I need to run to the next town of Minglanilla or to Cebu City to be able to blow my nose?" Magpale said.

The revision on the provision on nose blowing in public places forms part of an amendment to be made to the existing Sanitation Code of Talisay City that was approved in 2003.

Section One under Sanitary and Hygienic Act in Public Places states that spitting, expectorating and or nose blowing in all public places such as streets, sidewalks, plazas, beaches within the boundaries of the city of Talisay, as well as in public conveyances such as buses, jeepneys, multicabs, pedicabs, tricycles, and trisikads is strictly prohibited.

Councilor Shirley Belleza, head of the council committee on health, assured the Provincial Board members Talisay City is going to make revisions to the ordinance. - Ferliza C. Contratista
