Motorcyclists and riders caught wearing bonnets or masks while riding motorcycles in Cebu City will be apprehended and fined or placed behind bars.
After an amendment of a provision of City Ordinance 1680 that requires drivers and riders of motorcycles to not only wear crash helmets but also to refrain from wearing bonnets and masks while riding motorcycles was undertaken, the measure will be fully implemented hopefully by next month once the law is published in the local dailies.
Some Cebu City policemen reportedly expressed hope that the same measure would be implemented in Liloan and Compostela towns where many robberies committed by motorcycle-riding perpetrators allegedly took place, though the police could not show any statistics on these incidents. -
