The PB approved three resolutions, sponsored by Board Member Victor Maambong, commending The Freeman editor-in-chief Jerry Tundag, cartoonist Ramesh Rosillo, and columnist Fr. Roy Cimagala.
Tundag was awarded for best editorial writing, Rosillo for best editorial cartoon, and Cimagala for best column.
According to the resolutions, The Freeman awardees deserved further citation considering that in both good and bad times, they represent media practitioners who stay good and strive to be better either in individual or in collective efforts.
CAMMA, which was founded 15 years ago by Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, maintains its commitment to the Fourth Estate by giving recognitions to journalists who carve a niche in uplifting the state of the industry.
Also cited during the awarding ceremony at the Sacred Heart Center last month was The Freeman columnist Valeriano "Bobit" Avila's "Straight from the Sky" as best talk show on local television. - Ferliza C. Contratista
