Cop hurts thumb while serving arrest warrant

A man struck a policeman who was serving another man a warrant of arrest for illegal possession of firearms last Friday in sitio Bankal, barangay Ibabao, Cordova town.

Nelson Dungog Amion, of Barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City allegedly attacked PO1 Junrey Batobalonos, hitting his left thumb.

Initial investigation disclosed that policemen led by SPO3 Mario Poblete went to Cordova town to serve a certain Ronnelson Potot a warrant of arrest.

Inside Potot's house, police told Potot they were serving him a warrant of arrest.

Amion, who was inside the house with three other men, struck Batobalonos while Potot and the others attacked the other policemen.

Potot and three other companions escaped allegedly after hurling a grenade at the policemen.

Amion was shot in the abdomen when a firearm from one of the policemen went off. Confiscated from Amion was a .357 cal. revolver with three bullets and suspected shabu.

Policemen recovered the fragmentation grenade from a grassy lot nearby.

Police also allegedly found drug paraphernalia inside the house. - Jose P. Sollano
