1 dead, 18 hurt in 2 Talisay road accidents

-
A woman was killed while 15 others were injured when a bus was hit by another bus along the National Highway in barangay Lawaan, Talisay City, last Saturday night.

Also in barangay Campo 6, Talisay City, another three men were seriously injured when a delivery truck fell off a cliff that same night.

The Talisay police have yet to identify the woman killed in last Saturday's accident after no identifying document could be found on her or her belongings.

The woman was described to be 5'2" tall, of slim built, with shoulder-level hair and wearing a denim shorts and a white t-shirt.

Her body is now at the morgue of the Minglanilla District hospital where the other injured were brought for treatment.

Based on the investigation conducted by the Talisay traffic police, the victim was in a bus with plate number GVG-735 parked beside the road as the conductor was having his bills changed at a nearby gasoline station.

Then all of a sudden a Calvo bus, with a plate number GWH-278 driven by Gregorio Alingaga, 43, of barangay Cantoan, Naga town, rammed the rear of the parked bus.

Police said the Calvo bus was speeding since it was trying to beat another bus.

The driver of the Calvo bus is now under the custody of the Talisay police station pending the charges against him.

Meanwhile three men sustained fractures in different parts of their bodies when their delivery truck fell off a cliff in barangay Campo 6 also last Saturday night.

Injured were Gumercendo Largo, 34, of Toledo City, the truck driver; Roger Paran, 21 of barangay Guindarohan, Minglanilla town, a truck boy, and Aldwin Herbias, 18, who just hitched a ride on the said truck. - Flor Z. Perolina
