Bigtime pusher escapes CIDG Consolacion raid

-
Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group failed to arrest a suspected bigtime drug pusher after they were denied entry into his house during a raid Thursday afternoon in Poblacion Occidental, Consolacion town.

But the CIDG team, led by Police Senior Inspector Richard Caballero, eventually seized seven big packs and two sachets of suspected shabu from the house of Eldie Sanchez, who was the subject of a search warrant issued by Judge Marilyn Lagura Yap.

The team also recovered drug paraphernalia and P10 coins mounting to P5,500 which is believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade.

Police Senior Inspector Fred Vaño, who was part of the raiding team, revealed that Sanchez is capable of disposing of 200 grams to a kilo of shabu a week.

Vaño said Sanchez has been engaged in his illegal activities in the towns of Liloan and Compostela and the city of Mandaue for the past three years. A concerned citizen, he added, reported to their office a month ago the operation of Sanchez, who used to acquire his shabu supply from barangay Pasil, prompting them to launch an investigation that resulted to the raid the other day.

According to Vaño, the raid was delayed after they were initially prevented from entering Sanchez's house, giving the suspect time to escape through the window on the second floor of his house. - Ryan P. Borinaga
