That morning, a joint operation of the Lapu-Lapu City policemen and SWAT team members arrested suspected drug pusher Edwin Remulta, of barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu.
During the raid, police were seized seven packs of shabu, a Nokia cellphone and a .38 cal. revolver from the suspect.
Cases of illegal possession of drugs and firearms are to be filed against him today, he is presently detained at the Lapu-Lapu City police station.
Around 9:30 p.m. that same day Joel "chowklo" Abella was arrested in sitio Pailub Riverside, barangay Sambag II, after handing P100 worth of drugs to a poseur-buyer.
Abella, allegedly a Level 3 pusher who can dispose of at least 50 grams of shabu in a week, is said to be part of a group of pushers operating in sitio Pailub Riverside.
Fuente Police investigator Elmo Rosales said Abella belong to a group headed by the latter's brother Jerry who was once arrested by another unit for illegal drugs but is now out on bail.
Jerry, Rosales said, is now living in barangay Labangon but frequents Aznar Road where Joel lives, allegedly to monitor their drug operations.
Rosales said the group can dispose of three to five big packs of shabu estimated to be about 30 grams a week.
During the buy-bust taxi drivers Navotas and Labares were reportedly found at his shanty where empty sachets with shabu residue and sniffing paraphernalia were lying around.
All three are now detained at the Fuente police station.
Joel will be charged with drug pushing, possessing sniffing paraphernalia and using illegal drugs today while Navotas and Labares will be cited for possession of paraphernalia and using illegal drugs. - Ryan P. Borinaga and Flor Z. Perolina
