Malacañang has called for a multi-sectoral conference in Cebu against destabilization and for the continuation the administration of President Gloria Arroyo.
In a letter to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, assistant secretary Danilo Consumido of the Office of External Affairs in Malacañang said that the conference is a joint undertaking with the non-government organization Lakas Pinoy Gawin Natin.
The conference will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Baseline restaurant. Consumido said that the conference which will be attended by the leaders of various people's organization and non-government organizations in Cebu will tackle the ongoing destabilization activities against the administration.
The conference is also aimed at promoting the democratic reforms of the administration in the light of the escalating calls for Arroyo's resignation because of her alleged cheating in the last elections. Malacañang has requested Garcia to be the keynote speaker of the said conference but she declined as she is in the Netherlands on a two-week study tour.
Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, who is the acting governor is expected to represent Garcia in the conference.
