Dumpit leaves home
June 24, 2005 | 12:00am
Embattled policeman SPO1 Adonis Dumpit left his home in barangay Tejero Wednesday night a few hours after he received his suspension order and is nowhere to be found.
Dumpit left his firearms in their house. His wife said she has no idea where he had gone because he never called nor sent a text message supposedly to appease her worry.
Recently, Dumpit was ordered to surrender his badge and firearms following a one-year suspension issued by the Ombudsman for the Military.
The order was in relation to a frustrated murder case that was filed against him by Wilson Borja and Rolando Mejarito last August 27, about two hours after he reportedly shot to death jeepney driver Federico Tabon.
According to Dumpit, Borja and Mejarito, suspected thieves at the waterfront area, could only be imagining when they said it was him who shot them.
He said he was already sleeping at home during the pier area incident, this despite the claim of the victims that they could not be wrong it was Dumpit because he even asked them where they lived.
But the Ombudsman for the Military found Dumpit guilty of grave misconduct resulting to the suspension that was effective June 16 and was forwarded to the Directorate for Personnel Record and Management Office in Camp Crame.
A radio message about the suspension was then sent to the regional police office the other day and was subsequently received by Dumpit later on.
When asked by The FREEMAN through a text message where he was last night, Dumpit did not answer the question. Instead his reply was "Kapoy, wa ko mouli. Naghunahuna pa ko unsay ibuhi nako nila, kanang legal nga ikapasigarbo nako sa akong pamilya."
Right after receiving the suspension order the other day, Dumpit's plan was "Muoli na lang ko sa amo-a sa Lambajon, Baganga, Davao Oriental. Mag-uma na lang ko didto kay wala koy ipakaon sa akong pamilya. Pero og naay mo-offer nako og trabaho dinhi, akong dawaton."
In his press conference yesterday, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña who has a penchant for Dumpit's marksmanship skill, promised to help Dumpit in any way possible and that includes the possibility of giving him a job at the City Hall.
