Better for the Heart, Better on the Budget

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines- A good part of a healthy lifestyle is being choosy with the food intake. And since fried foods are a popular favorite - at least people are to be careful in their choice of cooking oil. A good choice would be Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil. The "Better for the Heart, Better on the Budget" choice is the heart-healthy, versatile, and value-for-money cooking oil.

Canola Oil is one of the healthiest cooking oils because it has the lowest saturated fat (bad fat) content compared to other cooking oils, and also boasts of high monounsaturated fat (good fat) content. Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil has oleic acid, omega 3 and omega 6 which are good for the heart. It also contains Vitamin A.  It has a pale golden color, light texture, and neutral taste so it can be used for any dish. It is very ideal for frying.

This year the first brand ambassador of Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil (since the brand's inception in 1997) is named - celebrity Donita Rose Villarama. Donita is chosen because of her passion for cooking and yearning for healthy recipes for herself and her family. She is the perfect heart mate that best represents the vision and qualities of the brand.

Donita Rose's versatility as an artist is undeniable, from being an actress, former MTV VJ, and now as a dedicated mom and a loving wife. Donita holds a degree in Culinary Arts from the Academy for International Culinary Arts (AICA) in 2012. She has had practiced at The Crowne Plaza Hotel Manila and, shortly after her graduation, moved to Las Vegas. There she focused on the hot kitchen of different cuisines like Italian, Japanese and gourmet Filipino, catering to private events all over the city.

For a time, Donita worked for the world's largest catering group, the Compass Group, where she was assigned at the headquarters of Zappos and mastered the art of cold food preparation. Then she returned to Manila and co-hosted GMA's "Basta Every Day Happy" show with Chef Boy Logro.

While her parents always loved to cook, Donita only started her culinary journey in Singapore, where she was based during her MTV stint. It was there where she was exposed to different cuisines like Malaysian, Thai, Indian and other international cuisines. While she was then in front of the camera, she had secretly wanted to become a full-fledged chef.

Today, in between her TV tapings and other showbiz commitments, Donita finds time to prepare heart-healthy dishes for her husband Eric, and son Joshua Paul. Her ultimate dream? Her own cook book and a restaurant, of course!

Fly Ace Corporation Senior Product Manager Zen Prudentino shares, "I admire the way Donita connects to her audience with her lively personality. I was surprised to see her passion for cooking during our segments in "Basta Everyday Happy" in December 2014. It was then that I thought of her as a perfect embodiment of our brand's vision of getting Filipinos into [the habit of] healthy cooking… by using healthy [cooking] oil like Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil…"

"We are beyond happy to welcome Donita Rose into the Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil family," adds Fly Ace Corporation President Jun Cochanco. "Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil is a consistent number one canola oil brand in the Philippines and with Donita Rose as our brand ambassador, I believe that she will further strengthen our brand."

Donita Rose shares heart-healthy recipes using Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil for delicious dishes that can be prepared and enjoyed at home.
