Feng Shui for Fathers

Even during the times of our forefathers, primitive feng shui already existed, minus the contemporary lucky charms.  Perhaps a chicken wishbone choker or dinosaur teeth pendant instead of the modern charms and crystals were trending during those times.

The science of feng shui was already there for mankind to benefit from. And this was mainly an oral tradition handed down from father to son.

Just like the yoga philosophy, yoga, after all, is harnessing prana or chi to benefit one's wellbeing, the security needs of early man for the right kind of beneficial shelter was primordial. Even if Maslow was yet to be born by then, the very concept of establishing a home in a secure and healthy environment already embodied feng shui, although this was not historically documented.

Squeezing the turnip of a feng shui historical timeline to now, here are key feng shui tips for fathers:

1. Locate your kitchen and lay it out under feng shui guided principles to generate income to feed your family well. The kitchen is the core promoter of chi and good health to your house.

2. The rest of house layout - the bedrooms, main doors, even lot shape, should be feng shui compliant in accordance to your feng shui.

3. But, in all these, be humble. Feng shui follows the breadwinner of the family. So, if your wife is the breadwinner, her feng shui should be the one followed for the house.

4. Feng shui should personally be applied and customized to every occupant of the house, pets included! This is for their good health and wellbeing. Avoid thinking only of yourself, neglecting others especially your loved ones (including even the yaya for some!).

5. Landscape feng shui principles should be followed not only in the surroundings of your property but within, especially the garden and lot perimeter, as well as interior designs!

6. Always do and follow feng shui with love in your heart and mind, ever mindful that it is purpose-driven to help you and your family, as well as household, grow and develop to the fullness of their human potentials.

7. Never ever forget the big idea behind feng shui: creating a life while making a living!

8. Avoid superstitions, folk beliefs and crass commercial, even fake, feng shui purveyors in the market that can be detrimental to you and your loved ones' health and wealth!

9. Lastly, but the best, remember the Dragon Side Rule of Feng Shui. That means staying or sleeping to the left side of your wife will make you the master of the house, not henpecked, dominated or commonly known in Philippines as "under the skirt" or under the saya. Remember, too, that a happy wife makes a happy life!
