The Visit of Evelin Ilves

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO - The Freeman

Madame Evelin Ilves, First Lady of the Republic of Estonia, received the usual warm welcome hospitality  in Cebu when Acting Governor Agnes Magpale and Acting Vice Governor Julian Daan hosted dinner at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall last February 28. Some members of the Provincial Board were present during the dinner cum musical affair.

Like Acting Governor Magpale, Madame Evelin Ilves, wife of Toomas Hendrick Ilves, President of the Republic of Estonia, is also known to be an ardent supporter of women’s rights and a children’s benefactress when it comes to health concerns.

Standing tall at five feet 10 inches, the lady from Estonia is charming and beautiful and quite friendly. She loves Cebu that she decided to stay for eight days so she could explore the beautiful sights of the island.

Entertainment numbers were presented by the UC Dance Troupe, as well as dance presentations from the province like…Karansa Dance from Danao City, Mantawi Festival of Mandaue City, La Torta of Argao and many others.

In the entourage of Madame Ilves were Estonia Consul in Manila Fernando Peña and Tiit Kepp.

It was quite a surprise for us to see Ted and Flammie Alo back in Cebu after they visited us last Januar, post-Santo Niño fiesta. But Ted reasoned that they would rather be in his native Cebu than going to other places like Europe and other countries. The guy loves golf and almost everyday he is in the golf course playing with friends like lawyer Julius Neri, former Mayor Alvin Garcia and Bebe Herrera. And he loves to eat Crispy Pata, because, according to him, he has no problem with his blood pressure!
