KFC 2nd Anniversary

On the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the Kidney Failure Club (KFC), a dinner musicale was presented by the members of the club. It was also a tribute to one of the founders of KFC, Jesus "Dodong" Tequillo, who, in his lifetime was quite active with the survivors of the kidney disease. Dodong, by the way, joined his Creator a few months ago.

Dubbed "A Little Night of Music" held at the Cebu Grand Convention Center, the KFC survivors did an extraordinary presentation like singing and dancing, and they were like normal people.

"Welcome to my world" was the first song of the KFC singers preceded with the welcome remarks by Atty. Jennoh Tequillo, son of the late Dodong Tequillo. Song numbers were also rendered by Bing Barili from Las Vegas and Realtor Herbert Buot. After which, the KFC survivors, all wearing red, sang a choreographed song "I Will Survive"! And you know what, they had a standing ovation! Unbelievably, the audience and relatives of these patients were so touched seeing how these survivors did their best expressing their deeply-felt love for God.

As the program was about to end, Dr. Ophelia C. Buot, Medical Director ARC II, Cebu City who sincerely and lovingly attended to these patients (70 percent are undergoing dialysis) gave a very inspiring message. Believe you me, looking at the KFC survivors singing and dancing to the best they can, makes one think they can live forever!

We had a delightful evening with Hembler Mendoza, General Manager of Harold's Hotel. He invited our group, lifestyle scribes, to savor the marvelous dinner prepared by Chef Dionisio de los Reyes. Our dinner menu had Fish Croquettes, Tortilla de Patata, Mixed Green Salad with Seared Duck, Quail Egg and Black Caviar, Seafood Bouillabaisse, then Crispy Pata, Steak ala Pobre, Crispy Prawn topped with dried scrambled egg, and for dessert - Tablea Choco Moist Cake. After dinner, Hembler toured us to the rooms, and showed us the scenic view of the city on the 9th floor. It was so exciting and we enjoyed every minute of our stay with Hembler at Harold's Hotel.
