Blood Type and Pinoy

CEBU, Philippines - "Please donate A blood to save a boy from dengue!"My father and some other teachers of Manila Japanese School donated 400cc blood each for a boy since a hospital didn't have enough stock of A blood. The shortage of A blood was surprising for me because the most common blood type is A in Japan. In the Philippines, according to the Health Department, the most common blood type is Blood Group O followed by A, then B and AB.

Although there is no scientific proven correlation, a popular belief in Japan is that a person's personality, temperament, and compatibility are predictable based on one's blood type. I am not fully convinced, though, when I realized that most of Filipinos are O blood. I feel there is something to do with blood type and personality.

Here are the strong and weak traits of a person according to one's blood type. Type A: earnest, creative, sensible, reserved, patient, responsible, fastidious, over earnest, stubborn, and tense. Type B: wild, active, doer, creative, passionate, strong, selfish, irresponsible, unforgiving, and unpredictable. Type AB: cool, controlled, rational, sociable, adaptable, critical, indecisive, forgetful, irresponsible, and "split personality." Type O: agreeable, sociable, optimistic, rude, jealous, and arrogant.

No doubt that type O is the closest description of the Filipino's characteristic as a whole. Filipinos are agreeable; instead of insisting his/her opinion, Pinoy usually say "sige" or "puwede" and prioritize the unity of a group of people. Filipinos are sociable; they are known as a very hospitable people. Filipinos are optimistic; they have "may bukas pa" and "bahala na" attitude all the time. Filipinos are friendly; too much friendliness sometimes crosses the line of other's privacy and becomes rudeness. Filipina is jealous when it comes to relationship. That's one way of expressing love for a Filipina. Are Filipinos arrogant? Instead of falling in line, many cut the line ignoring the people waiting. This is how I observe the Pinoy. What do you think of yourself?

Of course, this criterion doesn't fit every individual. Yet, I found it interested in knowing the tendency of people based on the blood type. It is not really a big matter whether it is right or not, but the important thing is that the blood type characteristics chart gives us opportunity to examine our strong and weak points. In many Asian countries, Facebook allows users to include their blood type in the profiles. So, if you feel that your personality is somehow explained by the description above, why don't you add your blood type information? (FREEMAN)
