Ancient Worlds

CEBU, Philippines - Capturing a piece of space is capturing a piece of time.

This is the message of the members of Cebu City Images Camera Club as the group launched "Ancient Worlds" (a photography exhibit) at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu last August 31, 2012. Exhibit runs until September 9.

"The goal of the camera club is simply to share the same passion in the art of photography and the fellowship among its member photographers," expressed Ted Madamba Jr. who has been with the club for more than two decades.

The group, affiliated with the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation Inc., started in 1984, and is considered as the oldest camera club in Cebu.

It was also learned that aside from competitions, the club offers local photo sessions as well as travels around the country. Most often, members gather and group themselves to travel and shoot abroad, just as depicted by their works on "Ancient Worlds."

Photo shoots and outings present an opportunity for them to learn from each other aside from the workshops that the club organizes from time to time. In fact, its current president Arthur Kenneth Sy plans to lead an official photo activity abroad, most likely in China this month (September), Madamba also said in a statement.

Showcasing their works and sharing this to the public is also their way of encouraging photography hobbyists to not fret too much on capturing the best angle of a silhouette, a subject, or the lighting, but simply to photograph what catches the fancy.
