My Hero

- The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - What is a hero? What action does one need to perform to become a hero?

The word "hero" is talked about a lot these days?some refer to characters in the movies like Spiderman, Superman, Ironman, etc. or people who do great things for many people. But a hero can be someone who doesn't fight with a weapon, or save millions from threats to humanity.

A hero can simply be someone who works beyond the scope of his or her job and moves out of his or her comfort zone. Heroes can be people who use compassion to perform heroic actions, putting their best selves forward in the service to humanity. A hero is an ordinary person that does extraordinary things to others.

We were curious about who young people consider to be heroes in their lives, so we have randomly asked them who they consider real heroes?inspiring examples, people they look up to, value, respect and have made a great impact on their lives:
